CaloryApp
Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 15, 2026
CaloryApp is a Chrome extension for counting calories and managing personal food entries. It is designed as a local-first tool for private personal use.
1. Data stored by the extension
CaloryApp stores the following data locally in your browser:
- Food and calorie entries in the
entriestable - Saved ingredients or reusable food items in the
articlestable - User interface preferences, such as selected language and theme
This means the extension does store user data locally on the device, but it does not collect or transmit that data to the developer or external services.
2. Where data is stored
All persistent data is stored locally on your device using:
- IndexedDB
- localStorage
CaloryApp does not use remote servers to host or synchronize your personal data.
3. Data sharing
CaloryApp does not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to the developer or to third parties.
Your data remains on your device unless you explicitly choose to export it.
4. Data transmission
CaloryApp does not send your food entries, saved articles, preferences, or other personal data to external servers or third parties.
5. Import and export
CaloryApp allows users to export and import saved article data for their own convenience.
- Exports are created locally on the user's device
- Imports are initiated explicitly by the user
- Imported files are processed locally by the extension
These actions are optional and only happen when the user chooses to use them.
6. External websites
CaloryApp may open external food search pages, such as FatSecret, when the user chooses to perform a search from within the extension.
This action is initiated manually by the user. CaloryApp does not automatically send its local database to those external websites.
External websites may have their own privacy policies and data handling practices. Users should review those policies separately when visiting such services.
7. Data retention and user control
Because data is stored locally in the browser, users control it directly.
Users can remove their data at any time by:
- Deleting entries or saved articles within the extension
- Clearing browser storage
- Uninstalling the extension
8. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any updates will be reflected on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
